I have a team of healers in my life, thank goodness: my chiropractor, acupuncturist, massage therapist, etc. They have all worked on my shoulder. I have iced it, used heat, bought a pulse massager that jumps the muscles, done targeted exercises - everything I can; that is, except one thing.....rest.
It's summertime and the golf courses are calling. I can't give up my 30 minutes of Kiai golf stretching and yoga every morning, or my gravity inversion table - can I? Here's the conclusion I came to last week.
Athletes and active seniors continue to do what they love to do, then manage the consequences. I am starting physical therapy next week and I suppose if they tell me two weeks of no golf will solve the situation, I would do that. But that's probably my limit.
I would rather have a little pain in my shoulder and spend a gorgeous day overlooking the ocean on a lush green golf course, than rest my body and lie down. I'm not suggesting you don't pay attention to aches, pains and ail
