So many people are disappointed that they don't have a Norman Rockwell, or Brady Bunch family. Some do and that is a wonderful blessing. But regardless of which kind of family you have come from, they are your family.
Author Richard Bach wrote "Rarely do members of the same family grow up under one roof." A family member is someone who encourages and supports you - who is always there for you. He/she could be someone you know from church or school, or military service. Use that person as your sounding board for any frustrations you may feel today.
You don't have to cherish your DNA family, but you ought to be polite. It saves the day and everyone's well being.
This if the day set aside to give thanks but there is no reason we can't practice gratitude all year 'round. I'm grateful I have this platform to communicate with people around the world. I'm grateful I can look out my window and see the sunlight. I'm grateful for so many other things.
Be extra patient this holiday season and maybe it will carry you through the rest of next year as well. Happy Thanksgiving!
